If you do not know the God of the Bible you say you serve, you will serve other gods without knowing it.

Imagine getting repeated phone calls throughout each day from the same person and each call is basically a request from them for something from you. They promise to do X,Y and Z for you if you help them but as soon as you do, they forget their promise and ask for something else. Sometimes they are so busy asking that they forget that they actually received from you and never even thanked you and then they are in your face asking for something again.
After getting from you several times each day and basically demanding that you give them what they ask for, at the end of the year, they actually have the nerve to tell you what they want for Christmas and the upcoming new year! They even have the nerve to buy gifts for others with the money you give them and don’t buy a thing for you…they don’t even give you a little bit of their time! The thing is, they put in their demands without being grateful for what you did for them so far and without making an offer to do anything for you in return. Every conversation you have with them is basically a one way conversation with them demanding that you take care of all of their needs but they never once ask you what they can do for you: it’s always about what you can do for them. This is not considered a healthy relationship since a healthy relationship is something that is established on mutual principles. Instead, this type of relationship is considered an abusive relationship in the sense of one party taking advantage of the generosity of another. How is your relationship with God? Is it established on mutual principles or is it all about you? People become so comfortable with what they were taught that they are afraid to accept and re-align themselves when introduced to truth.
If you were hired for a job but all you did at work was talk about what your job entailed and the benefits your job provides but you never actually performed the duties required of your job, do you think you will be obtaining a retirement package from that job?
In the same way, if all you do is talk about your relationship with God and the benefits He provides for you but you don’t actually go out into the field and work for Him…what reward do you expect to receive from Him at the end of time? You can follow God any way you choose but He is going to judge you by what is written in His Word.
Don't let the obvious catch you by surprise...YOU WILL DIE. Be prepared to leave at any moment...I am!
Don't let anyone tell you what to do with what God gave you to do...STAY FOCUSED.
Why is it that some parents insist that their children follow the rules established by them in their home or be punished - if they are too young to be responsible for themselves; or leave and live how they please - if they are old enough to be accountable for themselves; but many ‘Christians’ believe that they can live according to their own desires and outlook on life regardless of what God has outlined in His word and God will still accept them into His kingdom?
When Christ was on earth, His teachings were based on what is written in the Word of God. He passed the same teachings on to His disciples who later became Apostles and continued His teachings based on what is written in the word of God. As a result of this method, the Apostles operated in the same power of God that operated in the life of Christ. This resulted in the formation of the Biblical Church with amazing displays of the power of God.
Today, many persons base their teachings of Christ on their own personal opinions outside of what is written in the Word of God and as a result, contribute to the powerlessness of the 'church' many are now experiencing. |
