A Virtuous Woman
When most people hear the term ‘virtuous woman’, they automatically think of a single woman who has never had sexual intercourse before or a woman who has only had sexual intercourse with her husband. They don’t care what else you do in life - you are a woman of virtue as long as you were never a fornicator or an adulterer.
The biblical description of a woman of virtue is not the same as that of the world’s description of a virtuous woman. Yes, sexual purity is a part of the package of a virtuous woman but the package involves way more than sexual purity alone.
On her journey to becoming a true woman of virtue or value, a woman may have been battered, her life may have been shattered and at times, to her all hope may have appeared to be lost. She may have had to raise the children alone, in some cases being a single parent even though the father lived in the same house. She may have had to be the provider, the teacher, the preacher, the lawyer, the doctor and the friend, but in the midst of it all, she came out a survivor.
In spite of everything she may have had to go through, she continued on her journey and this makes her an example of a true woman of virtue.
This woman could be anybody, anywhere. This woman could be you.
