Effective Prayer
The medical field is comprised of doctors of varying specialties, trained to deal with specific ailments. If you are sick and are not quite certain as to what is wrong with you, you will more than likely visit a doctor who is a General Practitioner. If the General Practitioner determines that you have a specific ailment, you will be directed to see a specialist - but not just any specialist – you will be directed to see a doctor who specializes in your specific ailment. This in no way diminishes the qualifications of any anyone in the profession but affords you the opportunity to access the doctor specifically trained to deal with your ailment.
It is the same with prayer. When you have a general prayer request, you pray to God in a general way. When you have a specific prayer request, you need to pray to God according to the area of your needs. This in no way promotes the teaching of multiple gods but the teaching of the One God, operating in multiple capacities.
In His word, God is identified as ONE.
(Deuteronomy 6:4, Zechariah 14:9, Mark 12:29, Galatians 3:20).
This one God that we serve is named Jehovah
(Exodus 6:3, Psalm 83: 18, Isaiah 12: 2, Isaiah 26:4)
The different SPECIALTIES of Jehovah.
Jehovah-Jireh "the Lord will provide" (Genesis 22:13,14)
Jehovah-Rapha "the Lord that healeth" (Exodus 15:26).
Jehovah-Nissi "the Lord our banner" (Exodus 17:8-15).
Jehovah-Shalom "the Lord our peace," (Judges 6:24)
Jehovah-Ra-ah "the Lord my shepherd" (Psalm 23.)
Jehovah-Tsidkenu "the Lord our righteousness" (Jeremiah 23:6).
Jehovah-Shammah "the Lord is present" (Ezekiel 48:35).
